Where content comes from

Websites are served as captures from the Wayback Machine. Images, films and software are served from archive.org item pages. Spool99 fetches this material through public Internet Archive APIs and displays it alongside the metadata the Archive provides — title, year, creator and collection.

Copyright status varies per item

The Internet Archive hosts a mix of public domain works, openly-licensed works, and material archived for preservation or research purposes. Status is decided item by item, not collection by collection. Seeing something on Spool99 does not mean it is free to reuse.

If you want to use something you found here, follow the link to the original archive.org item and check the rights information there before doing anything with it.

Curated packs

Where Spool99 offers curated packs, those packs are editorial selections: a list of items, their context and links to the archived originals. Buying a pack pays for the curation and the interface, not for a licence to the underlying works. We do not sell, sublicense or transfer rights to any archived material.

Attribution

Every card links back to its source on archive.org, and displays the creator and date where the Archive supplies them. If metadata is missing or wrong, that usually reflects the archived record itself.

Takedown requests

If you hold rights to something shown on Spool99 and want it removed from our feed, email hello@spool99.com with the archive.org URL or item identifier, a description of the material, and a statement of your rights in it. We will exclude the item from Spool99, usually within a few days.

Removing an item from Spool99 does not remove it from the Internet Archive. For that, contact the Internet Archive directly.

Reporting harmful content

Archives contain historical material that can be offensive, graphic or upsetting. We filter what we can, but the pool is enormous. If something appears in the feed that should not, report it to the same address and we will exclude it.
